Initial situation | Task
In the Freiburg district of Haslach, the parish hall of the Protestant Melanchthon community was built in 1955 by the architect Wilhelm Schelkes between the Melanchthon Church and the village stream. The parish hall will be renovated according to the EnEV standard and the parish hall will be adapted to the requirements as a meeting place, as well as barrier-free access to all rooms will be made possible.
For the Nachbarschaftswerk Haslach, which takes on socio-cultural tasks in the district, an extension with consultation rooms and offices is being built. Through complementary offers and the joint use of existing premises, the church and the neighbourhood association use the synergy effects of the new Melanchthon Centre. On the north side of the existing building are the common kitchen and a hall, which will be used by the neighbourhood work in the future.
The extension is located about 20 m from the main road and is accessed via the Melanchthonweg, which runs parallel to the village stream. To protect against occasional flooding, the building level is 40 cm higher than the existing building.
Redevelopment
A new highly thermally insulating building envelope and the modernisation of the heating system make it possible to achieve the EnEV standard during the renovation of the existing building. The renovations in the hall carried out at the end of the 1970s will be dismantled, and the original geometry of the hall will be restored.
Cultivation
The new building is a single-storey, compact structure that adjoins the adjoining wing of the existing hall building.
The column axes serve as furniture: The corridor wall is designed as a functional wall with cabinets and shelves, the façade axis should also serve as a shelf (not implemented by the user).
