Within the campus, the new school building for art and music develops synergistically from the existing building and enters into a strong visual presence with the city of Lörrach.
In accordance with the content and meaning, the architectural design essentially develops from the functional requirements. Within this horizontally organized structure, the individual functional areas form self-contained room modules.
The music area, defined as a sound body in the house, creates the desired seclusion for making music. On the other hand, the art area as a studio conveys openness with plenty of natural light and is oriented towards the park with floor-to-ceiling openings that also function as landscape mirrors. The multi-purpose hall serves as a neutral filter between the two functional areas.
The connecting element of the two "towers" is the wood-clad multi-purpose hall, which serves both as an auditorium and as a multi-purpose hall, especially for holding music events. The glass wall - which extends over the entire width of the room - allows the multi-purpose hall to be converted into an open-air stage in the summer months.
