The Forum Z project is part of the overall Kulturpark Zürich-West development. The projects follow the principles of Agenda 21 for sustainable development on the basis of future-oriented diverse uses as well as environmentally friendly and socially responsible architecture.
On behalf of the Hamasil Foundation Zurich as the initiator of Forum Z, two office buildings are being built, each with a floor area of around 4,650 square meters. These are rented out at low cost to non-profit organisations in the fields of education, social affairs, culture and the environment.
The dimensions and setting of the two six-storey buildings with parapet are specified in the supplementary design plan Escher Wyss. Its basic structure consists of an access and installation core and a ring-shaped usage layer that can be flexibly subdivided around it. The honeycomb-like, prefabricated concrete elements of the façade represent the institution and the diverse orientation of the tenants through their conspicuous liveliness. The mineral expression of the concrete surfaces promises a robust presence in a heterogeneous, often anonymous-looking business environment.
