pool was formed in 1994 as a discussion platform with workshops and debates on architecture and urban planning. In 1996, the practical activity as a group of architects began and in 1998 led to the founding of the pool Architekten Genossenschaft with the eight partners Dieter Bachmann, Raphael Frei, Mathias Heinz, Philipp Hirtler, David Leuthold, Andreas Sonderegger, Mischa Spoerri and Matthias Stocker.
Since then, pool has continued to develop and today, 20 years later, has grown into a lively architectural office with almost a hundred employees. In order to lead this successfully into the future, the internal structures have been adapted and new managers have been appointed. At the beginning of 2018, the two long-standing employees and former associates Floris Besserer and Thomas Friberg were accepted as partners.
At pool, the office and work form are already understood as a project, as a work in progress: the attempt to correspond to a constantly changing job profile with an adequate form of organization. The project work is carried out in lean teams, each with a partner responsible for the project.
Quality assurance is guaranteed by periodic internal testing of the architectural and design concepts in all project and execution phases.
