The heart of the new Centre for Media and Social Work at Mittweida University of Applied Sciences is the 400 m2 large and 10 m high television studio with 170 spectator seats. On the outside, the clear building volume with its representative broadside facing Bahnhofstraße is revealed, while on the inside, a bright interior with communicative lounge areas that spirals around the television studio is revealed.
The building envelope consists of over 600 grey-brown exposed concrete elements from Hemmerlein. Each element has two different surfaces, a ground face and washed reveals. The depth of the façade elements changes from 73 cm to 49 cm from the ground floor to the 3rd floor, the façade columns and transoms are offset from each other to each other on each floor and are also inclined by 3° to the façade level.
