The surroundings of the site in Dresden's Johannstadt district are characterised by urban heterogeneity, on the border between perimeter block buildings around Fetscherplatz in the east and open construction in the west. As the end point of a green corridor that stretches along Striesener Straße from the synagogue in the centre of Dresden to the intersection of Thomaestrasse and Striesener Strasse, the corner plot in an exposed location is of particular importance.
The design picks up on the implied perimeter block development of the neighbouring house and formulates a tower-like building in the intersection area, which leads from the roadside development into the area of free-standing solitaires. Recesses on the ground floor formulate a clear address and attractive entrance situations to the two stairwells. The ground floor and 1st floor are used commercially. The following floors are used for residential use, with a mix of 2-, 3- and 4-room apartments.
