In Kreuzberg, the Lichtfabrik, an old Berlin commercial complex with tenants from the art and creative scene, was expanded in cooperation between Bollinger+Fehlig and Stoeckert Architekten. A multi-storey, loft-like commercial building with large windows now houses the new main entrance to the existing courtyards and staircases. The tradition of Berlin's commercial courtyards and the surrounding buildings is taken into account by the structure of the new building. Nevertheless, the building remains independent – a particular eye-catcher is the folded, prism-like façade, whose play of light and shadow changes with the position of the sun.
