With direct reference to people's everyday urban life, the new community centre is directly connected to the pedestrian zone.

It is a place of the community's offensive presence in the "first business situation", including the existing church buildings.

The new building structures a linear axis of movement and communication both inside and outside, which is divided into sub-spaces to connect the different ecclesiastical functional areas. The essential principle here is the interlocking of the linear movement space with the spaces tangentially to it.

In reminiscence of the existing red brick façades, the buildings were to fit in harmoniously and restrainedly. The main motivation is to bring "peace" to the overall appearance and to stage the listed ensemble, consisting of the church of St. Josef and the rectory.

The architectural repertoire is expanded in the style of sacred ornamentation by means of a three-dimensional play with the masonry bond as a positive and negative form.
