The office complex consists of a varied row of buildings on different levels, connected by a series of outdoor spaces such as courtyards, terraces and roof gardens.
The mix of office buildings and outdoor facilities gives the impression of a city within the city. Surrounded on all four sides by canals and lakes, the complex forms the entrance to the new, urban waterfront quarter in Aarhus, Denmark.
The complex houses about 800 workplaces, plus showrooms, an auditorium, video and film studios, a large canteen and common rooms for fashion shows and conferences. There is a three-storey underground car park with space for 450 cars and about 400 bicycle racks.
The façades are designed according to two design principles: reliefs made of light natural stone frame deep window niches in the parallel north and south façades. In contrast, the east and west facades are simple, transparent glass facades bordered with natural stone.
The office complex will be powered by seawater cooling and solar heating and is planned as a Class 2015 low-energy house, which means that energy consumption will be 50% below the minimum requirements set out in the Building Ordinance.
