New building of the Wandlitz cafeteria with "kitchen on site" in the Klosterfelde district
A cafeteria for 320 school lunches is being built at the Klosterfelde school site. The school cafeteria is also used as a community hall for citizen-oriented events and, in connection with the adjacent festival meadow, as a community center for special activities.
The independent building deviates from its uniformly designed surroundings in terms of materiality and cubature in order to do justice to its special and identity-creating significance. In memory of Klosterfelde's local industrial history, the building will be erected as a complete timber construction with vertical wooden formwork and extensive green roofs.
The building has a modular design and is subject to a grid that is based on 62.5 cm in the style of timber construction. It will be built in timber frame construction on a reinforced concrete floor slab. The main elements of the wide-span dining hall roof structure are glulam trusses arranged at a centre distance of 3.75 m and supporting a solid wood ceiling.
