As a closed, layered building, the clearly structured structure, with its horizontal plaster structure, is reminiscent of a stack of books or layered papers. Its external appearance transforms regionally typical details and geometries from the context of Göttingen's old town buildings into an independent museum architecture. The new exhibition building blends in and yet clearly marks itself as a house of art in small-scale urban space. The foyer area on the ground floor, which can be used flexibly, is designed as a link between the public street space and the green inner courtyard of the new art quarter.

A column-free solid structure allows maximum flexibility in the arrangement of different exhibition concepts across all floors.
