The narrow, very long plot is located between two listed villas. In order to achieve an optimal integration of the new building, the base plaster of the two monuments was taken up and transferred to the entire façade. For this purpose, a separate mixture was made over several plaster samples and approved by the monument preservation department. A church plasterer applied the plaster by hand as a trowel throw.

The hexagonal floor plan is derived from the respective spacing areas. In order to take account of the old tree population and to be able to stage the distant view of Andechs Monastery across Lake Ammersee, the building cubature develops upwards like a tower. To enhance this sense of height, the living room with a large window on the top floor was planned. The kitchen, as the family's hub, was to be connected to the garden on the ground floor.

Particular attention was paid to the solid, untreated materials. Following the idea of simple, ecological construction, the building was built in Einstein brick construction (without insulating material). The energy standard chosen was kfW 55, without ventilation system. The shading works via the deep soffits, without any additional sun protection.

The design is a joint work of the client Andreas Schwab, who himself studied architecture and works as a product designer, and the Huber architectural office.
