PAM A is the private museum of a paper manufacturer. All facades are made of fiberglass-reinforced panels. The square floor plan is divided into three rows, and in the middle is a three-storey, high atrium. By opening stacking blinds and awnings (Shitomido), spatial continuity is achieved from inside and outside. PAM B was formerly the laboratory and has been renovated as a contemporary art gallery. By reversing the rails of the sliding doors when opened, they act as a large shading device and create a comfortable shaded patio space.
The idea in both buildings was to use contemporary materials to recreate spaces for contemporary life, while maintaining continuity between inside and outside in a very Japanese way.
