The new building of the start-up and innovation centre "Science Park Kassel" is an essential part of the new Campus Park Nord of the University of Kassel. It sees itself as a forum for exchange between science and business and will support start-up companies in establishing their ideas on the market. The four-storey new building comprises around 6,200 square metres of space for office and laboratory workplaces, workshops, studios, as well as a central cafeteria with adjoining seminar and conference area. Other important components of the spatial offer are the IdeaLab and the CoWorking area. They form a nucleus that is intended to act as a source of inspiration and inspiration for the new Science Park.

The basic shape of the building, as defined in the master plan for Campus North, is reminiscent of a pretzel with seven corners and two inner courtyards. The new building cleverly mediates between the height difference of the campus plateau and the parking level on the Ahne. The offset of one storey can be experienced in the south-western inner courtyard by an open staircase, which offers additional space for outdoor events and courses. This "public" courtyard is located in the immediate vicinity of the foyer, cafeteria and conference area. The northern inner courtyard allows natural light and ventilation up to the basement; the adjacent workshops and technical offices can be extended into the courtyard in summer.

Access to the Science Park is in the southwest - facing the university campus - clearly articulated by an incision on the ground floor. All central facilities of the start-up centre are within easy reach of the foyer. Four light-flooded access cores with a view of the surroundings connect the building vertically. All offices are accessed horizontally via a tour. On each floor, spacious and bright communication zones offer space for informal meetings and breaks.
