At its southern end, Charlottenburg's well-known Knesebeckstraße has a hard time holding its own against the splendor of Kurfürstendamm with its buildings from the thirties to the eighties. However, plots 62 and 63 are experiencing a new beginning. The office building "NEO – Büro am Ku ́damm" brings the lush plasticity typical of Kurfürstendamm and its side streets to the street space, but without denying the reference to the neighboring buildings from the 30s and 50s. The high proportion of glass, the horizontal banding and the spacious ground floor zone pick up on the qualities of these modern office buildings. As a courtyard house with two cores, the building type offers a wide variety of office and commercial space. Through the two-storey entrance area, the green inner courtyard leads to the rear access core as a second address. The fire wall to the south completes the courtyard of the neighbouring listed Knesebeck ensemble as a windowed north façade. With its opulent architectural expression, exquisite materials and anthropomorphic physiognomy, the NEO project sees itself as a contribution to the West of Berlin's search for a specific architectural expression.
