The wish of the builders of the single-family house in Vitznau in Switzerland was to live in a wooden house. However, the pronounced hillside location prompted us to design a massive building whose hard shell of a concrete façade envelops and protects the soft core of a wooden house. The wooden construction stands as a "house within a house". First, the prefabricated wooden structure was erected from box elements, then the concrete façade was installed as a single shell. The jetted concrete picks up on the colour and grain of the Nagelfluh on the back. The all-wood case is made of larch block wood panels. At the openings and incisions, the wood is also visible in the outdoor space. The solidly framed fixed glazing in larch emphasises the view of the different landscapes of Lake Lucerne. A clear cubature anchors the house firmly on the hillside.
