GIMA Hand-Held Bricks

Girnghuber GmbH

Description

The Old Bavarian hand-hammered brick is about "individuals" made in a traditional process in which each individual brick is hammered into the shape by hand, creating distinctive features in structure, surface and colour. No two bricks are alike, and in terms of quality, it is in no way inferior to machine-drawn, extruded products. Numerous formats and optional custom-made products offer great design freedom.

Three things are needed for a handshake brick or a handshake floor slab: good clay or clay, a dimensionally correct shape and enduring muscle power. The handshake brickmaker beats and presses the clay mass into the sanded mold with all his might, cuts off the protruding clay with a taut wire and carefully shapes the still soft "brick".
