More Over
Wood-concrete composite refers to a construction method in which two separate cross-sections of wood and concrete are joined together to form a composite cross-section with the help of special fasteners. This is why this type of construction is also called hybrid construction.
The combination of the two building materials makes optimal use of their properties. Under bending stress, the tensile forces are absorbed by the wood, while the concrete is arranged in the compression zone. The fasteners used between the two cross-sections create a connection on the one hand, and on the other hand, the shear forces between wood and concrete are transferred as a result. In addition, the composite achieves a significantly higher load-bearing capacity of the structure.
