HALFEN DETAN rod system

HALFEN GmbH

Description

DETAN tension rod systems are used in a wide range of applications:

  • Truss elements and wind braces in roofs and walls
  • Tensioning of pylons and canopies
  • Undertension for timber and steel girders
  • Post-tensioning of glass facades Tensioning
  • of pedestrian bridges

Thanks to comprehensive system solutions, even complicated constructions and aesthetically designed details can be realised indoors and outdoors.

DETAN rod systems are available in stainless steel (DETAN-E) and in steel (DETAN-S).

Numerous product optimizations once again increase the quality of DETAN. Requirements for an architecturally high-quality product are fully met.

More Over

New assessment for DETAN-E

  • Tension rod system DETAN-E now with new European Technical Assessment ETA-11/0311
  • The additional type approval based on ETA and Eurocode 3 allows the permissible loads to be conveniently transferred from tested tables
  • Quality and production are continuously monitored by a certification body
  • Thanks to CE marking, it can be used
  • throughout Europe without any problems25% higher loads due to the greater tensile strength of the tension rods
  • Tension rods are fully loadable (no reduction factors for individual system sizes need to be observed)
  • Determination of the permissible loads, taking into account country-specific safety coefficients M1 and M2 (NAD) with the help of the new DETAN software
  • Minimum requirement (strength class 235) for the connection plates to be provided on site for optimum procurability
  • EU-wide, uniform design basis
  • No national approvals or certificates required
  • Cross joints are now also available in stainless steel
  • Cross joints offer a cost-effective alternative to outcrossings with circular discs

Compression rod calculation

  • Calculation of DETAN-E compression bars made of stainless steel of strength class 235 according to general building authority approval Z-30.3-6
  • Calculation of DETAN-E compression rods made of stainless steel of strength class 235 alternatively according to Eurocode 3 (EN1993-1-4)

Evaluation for DETAN-S

  • tension rod system DETAN-S with European Technical Assessment ETA-05/0207
  • The additional type test based on ETA and Eurocode 3 allows a convenient transfer of the permissible loads from tested tables
  • Thanks to CE marking, can be used
  • throughout Europe without any problemsMembers are fully load-bearing (no reduction factors for individual system sizes need to be observed)
  • Determination of the permissible loads taking into account country-specific safety coefficients M1 and M2 (NAD) with the help of the DETAN software
  • EU-wide, uniform design basis
  • No
  • national approvals or certificates required
  • Cross joints offer a cost-effective alternative to outcrossing with circular discs

  • Calculation of the DETAN-S compression rods made of pipe of strength class S355 according to Eurocode 3 (EN1993-1-1)

The pre-assembled delivery

The DETAN rod systems are delivered to the customer pre-assembled up to and including a system diameter of 60 mm (from size 76 in individual parts). Large system lengths are separated at the joints for transport.

Economical and time-saving

  • No additional assembly effort required on the construction site
  • No risk  of confusion
  • During pre-assembly, the rod is preset to the maximum adjustment position ("om-oj"). The adjustment is carried out by further screwing the threads to the exact system length on site
  • Perfect thread movement

Reliable and durable

  • Tension rods completely hot-dip galvanized  after the manufacturing process
  • No risk of hydrogen embrittlement
  • No zinc spalling
  • Large key surfaces for safe tightening
  • Forks and lock nuts hot-dip galvanized
  • Internal thread protected
  • High-quality protection against moisture and dirt in the thread area
  • Sealing set standard from rod Ø 16 mm

DETAN compression rod

As a supplement to the DETAN tension rod system, HALFEN also offers compression rods that fit perfectly into the system, both technically and visually. Compression rods consist of large diameter tubes that are tapered at the ends, allowing standard DETAN fork pieces to be connected.

Technical Information

The DETAN pretensioning device — advantages and basis

The targeted application of a pretensioning device is very difficult from system size 30 onwards, so that special aids such as a hydraulic pretensioning device are required. The HALFEN pre-tensioning device for use with DETAN systems M30 - M60 ensures skilful load application through threaded half-shells, so that surface damage is avoided.

Further advantages

  • Optimally matched to DETAN post-tensioning system
  • Particularly lightweight aluminium construction for easy installation
  • Targeted hydraulic application of the preload up to 425 kN
  • Independent of power sources
  • Protection of the high-quality galvanising surface through special load application
  • Simple
  • control of the load application by calibrated pressure gauge
  • Additional control option with optional setting strain gauge also possible at a later date (with existing measuring marks)
  • Functional, simple & robust

The DETAN rod system: The advantages at a glance

  • European Technical Assessment (ETA) for the DETAN-S and DETAN-E systems
  • Rod systems with CE declaration  of conformity
  • Optimum corrosion protection, especially on key surfaces and rod threads (DETAN-S)
  • Pre-assembled delivery up ∅ and including 60 mm
  • Optimal product identification through labels on the tension rod. DETAN-S has an additional dot peen stamping on the tension rods
  • Compression rods in 6 standardised designs
  • New cross socket as a cost-effective alternative to the circular disc
  • Free design and configuration software

Corrosion protection

The DETAN rod systems offer a high level of corrosion protection, even in hazardous areas such as the thread. A significant improvement in quality are the key surfaces that have already been milled before galvanizing. The forks and lock nuts are coated with high-quality hot-dip galvanizing and offer excellent long-term corrosion protection as well as high mechanical strength.
