We love what we do. You can feel this when you see how we deal with the local building material wood. Our region is close to our hearts. That's why we use regional products wherever possible and offer our employees an interesting, modern and secure workplace. We are happy to pass on our experience to the next generation by training apprentices.
Artho AG was founded in 1936 by Martin Artho from Gerendingen as a sole proprietorship. The main task at that time was simple carpentry and carpentry work. After the Second World War, a new plot of land was acquired in the lower village due to lack of space, which still forms the company headquarters today.
In 1973, the sole proprietorship was converted into Artho AG and handed over to the next generation, Werner Artho. Prefabricated elements were mainly used for construction, which was very progressive at the time. Over the years, the company was expanded more and more, so the main activities were in timber construction, carpentry, conversions, commercial and agricultural buildings. In addition, the area of architecture was expanded with a planning office.
After the turn of the millennium, the first carpentry machine was put into operation, which was intended to further advance precise system and element construction in the previously newly built production hall with a floor area of 40 by 24 metres. In 2009, the company was passed on to long-time employees Pius Küng and Urs Egli.
Six years later, the management was expanded by René Küng and Remo Brändli. The new office building was completed in spring 2014. The entire planning is now spread over two floors in the modern open-plan office, with two attic apartments above. Externally, it represents a modern building that is intended to represent the values of the company. The company's history is characterized by constant development and growth, and for 80 years now it has held its own in the market and driven continuous development and innovation.
