The site for the new courtyard building of the parish church foundation of St. Peter and Paul is located within a dense perimeter block development typical of the quarter of the late 19th and early 20th centuries on Hallwylplatz. In order to alleviate spatial bottlenecks in the existing retirement center and to optimize the operational situation for residents and employees of the St Peter & Paul retirement center, the client decided to build a courtyard building that is connected to the existing retirement center via the basement. The new premises – first and foremost the common room and the activation room, as well as the offices on the upper floor – create great added value for the residents and staff of the St Peter & Paul retirement centre. The flat building on the ground floor creates differentiated recreational opportunities for residents, employees and the neighbourhood in the neighbourhood. The individual buildings are tied together to form a small ensemble in the inner courtyard and invite you to linger. The façade cladding made of green copper sheet gives the building a festive character and makes it appear as a discreet public place in the middle of the municipal courtyard.
