3S Solar Plus AG

Founded in Bern in 2001, 3S Swiss Solar Technologies AG was a pioneer in the Swiss photovoltaic industry. The company is already introducing the MegaSlate® solar module in its first year of existence. Thanks to the MegaSlate® system, there are over 10,000 active employees throughout Switzerland Anlagen.Im 2005, the company is listed on the Bern Stock Exchange. In 2008, Somont, a leading stringer manufacturer, was acquired.

In 2009, several symbolic projects will be realised in the high alpine region. Thermal panels and skylights complement the MegaSlate® module. The Swiss in-roof solar system is born. The merger between 3S Swiss Solar Technology AG and Meyer Burger in 2010 creates a leading global player that covers all important stages of value creation in the photovoltaic industry. The two brands 3S Modultec – Module Solutions and 3S Photovoltaik – Solar Building Technologies are created. The activities developed by 3S in the field of building-integrated solar systems will be taken over by the "Energy Systems" business unit of Meyer Burger (Switzerland) Ltd.

In a highly competitive global market, the Meyer Burger Group decides to concentrate on its core activities at the end of 2017. Various options for Energy Systems were examined and the sale was decided. Through an agreement with Patrick Hofer-Noser, founder of 3S Swiss Solar Technologies AG, the business unit will be handed over to a new, independent company. Meyer Burger (Switzerland) Ltd has founded the company 3S Solar Plus AG for this purpose, which has taken over all activities of the Energy Systems business unit as of 1 June 2018. In the initial phase, 3S Solar Plus AG operated as a 100% subsidiary of Meyer Burger (Switzerland) Ltd.

As of August 1, 2018, the business was fully integrated into the new structure and handed over to the new shareholders. An agreement between the two companies allows 3S Solar Plus AG to keep the office space and production at the same location. The creation of this new structure ensures the continuation of the development and production of the Swiss MegaSlate® in-roof solar system and represents a solid solution for long-term customer relationships and guarantees.
