Sustainability is one of the most important factors in the more than 150-year history of our company. After all, we work with one of the most wonderful resources our nature has to offer: with the raw material wood. For this gift of nature, we want to treat our environment with care, protect it and preserve it permanently for the future of future generations.
Wood from PEFC-certified timber and forestry The woods we use come from PEFC-certified forestry and forestry. PEFC is a transparent and independent system for ensuring sustainable, environmentally conscious forest management and thus a "forest TÜV". The certification is carried out according to very strict guidelines, independently and globally. The most important criterion is always that no more wood may be taken from the forests than grows back.
Wood from PEFC-certified timber and forestry Regional instead of international While we export our soils worldwide, as an environmentally friendly manufacturer, we rely as far as possible on wood from the region and from local forests for the supply of raw materials. In this way, we support our regional forestry – at the same time, we also keep transport routes short and also relieve traffic and the environment through our own rail connection.
Sustainability throughout the value chain Environmental protection has always been anchored in every single step of the value chain in our company. This starts with the raw materials we use: We focus on an optimal raw material yield and are always careful to meet the requirements of the Circular Economy Act in the best possible way. Our state-of-the-art manufacturing technologies incorporate important environmental aspects into every phase of production, thus contributing to particularly sustainable and environmentally friendly processes. We have been using the wood waste generated during our production since 1971 to generate environmentally friendly green electricity. Not only does our company benefit from this – by feeding it into the public grid, we are also increasing the share of renewable energies in our region.
Electricity from hydropower Our company premises also include our own hydroelectric power plant. In this way, we are using another particularly environmentally friendly and sustainable resource to generate electricity.
Excellent environmental awareness Sustainable development, environmentally friendly action, long-term nature conservation and a great responsibility towards our environment and our society are the most important criteria for us in all our decisions. Every employee and every business partner who gets to know our company feels this. And important institutions that award companies for their commitment to environmental protection are also aware of this. As early as 1998, we, Hamberger Flooring GmbH & Co. KG, were one of the first sustainable companies in the woodworking industry to be certified according to DIN EN 14001 and audited in accordance with the EU Eco-Audit. In addition, our products carry the Blue Angel certificate, the German government's eco-label for environmentally friendly products.
The moral of the story Our environment concerns us all. It is the space in which we live, it is home to people, animals and plants as well as the future of our children and grandchildren. Every big and small part that we can contribute to protecting our environment is our top priority. That is why we always act responsibly, environmentally conscious and future-oriented.
