55 years after its founding, Fabromont is now a leader in the production and distribution of textile ball yarn® coverings. When Günter Tesch decided to leave his hometown of Berlin to pursue an entrepreneurial adventure in Switzerland, he was already rich in experience. However, not as an industrialist, but in the retail trade of his father, the company Teppich TESCH. He found a promising location in the canton of Fribourg, which promoted the settlement of industry from the 1960s onwards.
At the time, hardly anyone believed that this would become a success story. In the cartel landscape of the time, he was forbidden to produce tufted or woven carpets. From today's perspective, this was a stroke of luck, because G.T. had to use his creativity, which ultimately resulted in over 200 patent applications. Some of them have been successfully implemented. For example, the first fully synthetic needlepunch floor covering "Syntolan". Area of application especially in the new schools that were due to the baby boomer generation at the time. But above all the ball yarn® flooring. A completely new process of using spherical yarns to produce a highly resilient textile covering with a polar-like surface. The imperative to produce something new was fulfilled and became the foundation of the success of the Fabromont company.
Today, ball yarn® coverings are ubiquitous in the contract sector and are popular with planners and builders due to their quality and appearance. Many well-known references at home and abroad have been realised.
