Inverted roof, definition

Inverted roofs are single-shell roof structures without a rear ventilation level. In contrast to a warm roof, the waterproofing is under the thermal insulation. The waterproofing is thus protected by the thermal insulation, the insulation is in the wet environment of the flat roof. However, this type of construction has not proven itself, as the insulation absorbs water, is surrounded by moisture and is thus reduced in its insulating effect. Due to the increased demands on the insulating properties of buildings, the inverted roof is no longer considered up-to-date.
