Re-entry function

Special function of an escape door lock, which allows a person to re-enter the abandoned room without a key for safety reasons, if the internal control element of the escape door lock has been operated beforehand when leaving. This feature also allows the fire brigade to quickly access the building after at least one person has left the building. With regard to burglary protection, however, it must be taken into account that the door is also accessible from the outside after each opening from the inside, as long as it is not locked again. In the case of mortise locks with panic function, the re-entry function corresponds to the panic function D, see Lexicon article Mortise lock with panic function B, C, D, E.
