Some assembly and construction scaffolding is not stable free-standing. They must therefore be connected to the building using scaffolding anchors to prevent them from falling over.
Difficulties in the installation of scaffolding anchors arise especially in the case of multi-layer wall structures, e.g. facing masonry or prefabricated concrete or natural stone curtain walls.
Depending on the type of scaffolding and the size of the scaffolding, only tensile and compressive loads acting at right angles to the building or loads running at right angles and parallel to the building must be taken into account. Scaffolding anchors with diagonal struts must be used when there are also loads to be taken into account that run parallel to the building. If only compressive and tensile forces are applied that run at right angles to the building, scaffolding anchors can be used without diagonal struts.
Scaffolding anchors are often provided with an internal thread. After dismantling the scaffolding, the anchors must be provided with a plastic cap to protect them from soiling, which can be screwed in.
It must be ensured that the loads must be transferred into the load-bearing wall via the scaffolding anchors. Therefore, the anchors must be installed in front of the curtain wall. Later fastening, e.g. to the facing wall shell, is not permitted.
