Lightweight lift

The lightweight lift is an intermediate form between a lift and a passenger lift. It is used for the vertical transport of one or two people or a wheelchair user through the ceiling of an apartment. The transport height ranges up to 3.50 m. In addition to the platform with a car closed or secured at least as high as a parapet, this lift through the ceiling also consists of a platform above it, which closes the ceiling on the upper floor when the lift goes down. It is a self-supporting construction without an elevator shaft. DIN EN 81-41 regulates the safety requirements for the construction, manufacture, installation, maintenance and dismantling of electrically operated vertical platform lifts intended for use by persons with disabilities. Most of the lifts are passenger transport systems in accordance with the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC. Other lifts over several floors, which are also offered, for example, as so-called home lifts, are passenger lifts and must be planned in accordance with the specifications of DIN EN 81-70.
