Shear mandrel

A shear force mandrel is used to transmit force between 2 concrete components, which are separated by an expansion or working joint. It can be used to transfer vertical and horizontal forces (e.g. wind loads).

A shear force mandrel consists of 2 components, a sleeve and a mandrel. The sleeve is attached to the formwork with screws, set in concrete and later accommodates the mandrel. A spring element in the sleeve continues to ensure displacement/expansion of the components.

A: Concrete component 1

B: Concrete component 2

C: Sleeve

D: Mandrel
