Smoke and heat exhaust ventilation system (SHEV)

This generic term refers to a complete system for the dissipation of smoke and heat in the event of a fire. It consists of the individual smoke and heat exhaust ventilation units (RWG), smoke aprons, the trigger and control elements, the energy supply, the pipes and the supply air supply. Smoke and gases are to be directed upwards through an SHEV system so that a smoke-free layer of cold clean air is maintained underneath. This makes it easier to rescue people and extinguish the fire brigade and also protects the building fabric through heat dissipation. A distinction is made between NRA (natural smoke extraction system), MRA (mechanical smoke extraction system) and RDA (smoke protection pressure system).
