- Bouclé: pile carpet whose surface (pile) consists of small loops, also called loop fabric or loop pile carpet
- Cut-loop: also called cut loop carpet, in which an alternation of loop and cut pole creates a decorative pattern of the floor
- Flat weave: Two-dimensional woven carpet without pile
- Flat carpet: see flatweave
- flock floor covering: made of vertical pile fibres that are glued to the underlying carrier layer
- Pile carpet: three-dimensional carpet in which the pile (pile) forms the sole wear layer, while the carrier layer remains invisible, e.g. loop pile carpet, cut pile carpet or cut loop carpet
- Shaggy carpet: pile carpet with high pile height
- Needle fleece floor covering: Fibre sections in a tangled position are felted together by needling
- Low pile carpet: pile carpet with low pile height
- Pile carpet: see pile carpet
- Polvfleece floor covering: Fibre sections, matted together by needling, with individual fibres protruding to create a pole-like and structured surface
- Relief fabric: Cut loop carpet, in which loop and cut pole have different heights
