Roof drainage

Roof drainage must ensure that precipitation is drained away quickly.

More about roof drainage
The

rainwater is directed to the gutters and downpipes via the sloping roof surfaces.

A distinction is made between:

  • Suspended gutters
  • concealed gutters

The cross-section of the metal or plastic gutters are semicircular or box-shaped. Rainwater downpipes are round or square.

Notes on planning

If the roof drainage is carried out indoors, an additional emergency drain must be provided.

Roof drains that are oriented inwards should be located at the low points of the roof surface.

Roof drains must be permanently and watertight connectable.

Roof penetrations must be at least 30cm, preferably 50cm apart from each other and from other components, such as wall connections, etc. The outer boundary of the flange is decisive.

Vapor barriers must be connected to penetrations of the roof membrane.

Roof drains must be freely accessible for maintenance purposes.
