The semi-detached house, which is well-situated on a slope in a high-altitude district of Karlsruhe, fits informally into the already existing residential area from the 1960s with its cubature and external appearance. The tight corset of the development plan at the time had to be adhered to as far as possible. The roof pitch and the floor heights had to be observed. Thanks to the bevelled wall surfaces in the floor plan, we were able to achieve a maximum volume with two residential units of almost the same size without exceeding the required clearance areas.

The building is a solid construction of monolithic masonry with a plaster façade. The plaster façade is executed in a coarsely structured, horizontal broom plaster, a reminiscence of the partly coarse plaster structures from the 70s of the surrounding buildings. The chosen shade of old white of the façade harmonizes with the oiled oak windows. The 2-storey west-facing façade facing the garden will have generous openings with differentiated opening variants. The large fixed glazing with the offset plaster surfaces turns out to be a window with a seating niche and shelf with a view of the garden and the landscape. All window sashes on the small balconies can be opened completely as folding sliding elements.

The floor plans of the two halves of the house are mirrored. On the ground floor there is an open kitchen with dining area and a study facing the street. The open staircase leads to the open and bright living area on the garden floor. In relatively small volumes, 4 rooms, 3 wet rooms, a kitchen--living room and a living room could be realized on 3 levels.
