EPS is the abbreviation for "expanded polystyrene". The foam is also known as "Styrofoam®". EPS is an extremely light material, consisting of 98 percent air and two percent polystyrene. During production, the granules are inflated under the influence of heat, foamed and finally cut into the appropriate shape. Among other things, this is how BACHL EPS insulation boards are created.
In recent years, graphite-containing/grey EPS insulation boards have become established. The graphite it contains acts like a mirror and significantly reduces the heat radiation from the foam. Up to 50 percent of resources can be saved compared to white EPS/Styrofoam® – with the same insulating effect.
