Beucha granite porphyry

Ruppert GmbH & Co. KG

Description

Beucha granite porphyry with reddish iron oxide is used in the splash water area (approx. 50 cm), as the soft porphyry tuff is not resistant to de-icing salt. The reddish components of the granite harmonise it with the other façade material.

Description of the Beucha granite quarry:

The granite quarry "Sorge" in Beucha has already made history. Its granite served as building material for the famous Monument to the Battle of the Nations in Leipzig. Granite from the region thus has tradition and convinces with its stability. The disused quarry was brought back to life in 2001 by Ruppert GmbH & Co. KG.

The boiler quarry, which is sunk into a shallow elevation, offers an excavation area of approx. 6-7 ha. The granite has excellent conditions such as good durability and weathering resistance, and it is also frost-resistant and polishable. With the properties of the base mass and its interlocking with sprinklings, granite is ideally suited as a building stone. This is used to make raw blocks, hydraulic stones, paving scrap and masonry blocks.
