At the end of a long driveway in Bobingen, stands the green studio house. Well embedded between a very heterogeneous existing development, it forms the middle of the property. In the immediate vicinity are the residences of the family members of the client, garages and the listed Cosimosinian Castle - the oldest secular building in Bobingen.

The client, an artist, wanted a studio in the place of her childhood. The result is an 18m long, single-storey new building that is reminiscent of a barn. He takes up the characteristics of the local structures and turns them into the defining theme. The simple becomes the basic principle: a clear, elongated wooden structure with a striking gable roof is placed on an unreinforced floor slab. The holistically thought-out details, such as the graphic folding of the roof membrane into a gutter, become expressive elements.The colour scheme and the positioning towards the well-trafficked street give the barn-like house a self-confident external effect.

The structured clarity continues inside the studio. The inner staircase core with its load-bearing timber stud walls zones the elongated building into two areas: the studio space and the living area. In the core there is also space for a kitchenette and bathroom. The recessed attic space offers sufficient possibilities for storing art and reduces the room height in the living area below in favor of a desired sense of security. The materials and constructions used are very simple: the component-activated base plate was only smoothed out on the wings. The rough-sawn folding of the gable roof remains visible in the studio space and shapes the atmosphere. As with a barn, the generous façade openings can be completely closed via external sliding gates. In contrast to the green board-clad façade and the green slate bitumen roofing membrane, the walls and the inner roof construction are glazed white. The deliberate reduction of colour offers the artist the necessary working atmosphere inside with good lighting. The painting hall can also be used flexibly for exhibitions, and the sliding doors allow the rooms to be connected in different ways.
