Technical Information
The
RAVATHERM™ XPS 300 SL B1 thermal insulation boards, which are not glued, laid in a jointed bond and are tightly jointed, and the resilient vapour-permeable, non-absorbent separating layer, which is usually located between the gravel layer, must be laid with an overlap of 200 mm in order to ensure the appropriate stability of the thermal insulation boards against wind loads and creep together with the resilient layer.
In the case of inverted roofs, the sequence of layers above the thermal insulation must be permeable from the point of view of vapour permeability.
In the case of a used roof with a closed sequence of layers from the point of view of vapour permeability, the installation of a diffusion layer (at least 3-5 cm gravel, gravel, etc.) between the thermal insulation and the floor layers, the tread plates and the load-distributing reinforced concrete layer is strongly recommended.
The
RAVATHERM™ XPS 300 SL B1 panels, which are designed with stepped rebates and can be installed without a thermal bridge, must be laid with tightly jointed joints and fastened from point to point (in 6 places per panel) or, in the case of adhesive foam, with one glue per strip.
Thermal insulation boards can be cut manually, easily and precisely with tools.
The maximum installation depth of the thermal insulation is to be determined by the load: the horizontal pressure must not exceed the value of the compressive strength of the thermal insulation boards for the permanent load.
FLOORS
On compacted gravel beds or thin prefabricated concrete, the RAVATHERM™ XPS 300 SL B1 thermal insulation boards must be laid directly offset, if necessary with a levelling layer of sand. When thermal insulation boards are installed over insulation against soil moisture and groundwater, they also take on the role of a mechanical protective layer.
For normal floors and underfloor heating, the thermal insulation layer with high load-bearing capacity forms a solid basis for screed and underfloor heating, whereby the heating pipes can be attached directly to the thermal insulation. Between the thermal insulation and the screed, it is recommended to lay a separating and sliding layer, a PE film. In the case of floor ceilings, impact sound insulation must be provided separately.
IMPORTANT
The longer application temperature of RAVATHERM™ XPS 300 SL B1 products is max. +75 ° C.
At higher temperatures, the plates melt, resulting in permanent deformation.
RAVATHERM™ XPS 300 SL B1 products contain an ecologically harmless combustion-retardant additive, which makes the product flammable due to spark ignition, but behaves self-extinguishing at the ignition temperature. Always observe the applicable fire protection regulations when using them.
RAVATHERM™ XPS 300 SL B1 products are resistant to solvents and plasticizers used in the construction industry (solvent-free bituminous components, water-soluble wood preservatives, lime, cement, masonry mortar and plaster mortar, anhydrite gypsum, etc.).
Certain organic materials, solvent-based wood preservatives, color additives, solvents (acetone, ethyl acetate, petroleum, gasoline, etc.) damage the panels and cause softening, shrinkage and material damage.
When gluing, a solvent-free adhesive should be used, taking into account the manufacturer's instructions for gluing polystyrene foam.
XPS products should not be exposed to direct, intense sunlight for a long time.
