The translucent thermal insulation inserts TIMax® GL and TIMax® GLPlusF enable profiled glass facades to be adapted to modern requirements for indoor climate, lighting and energy efficiency in an economical way. This is reflected in improved thermal insulation values (U-value), reduced heat input in summer (low g-value) and very good glare protection. During the day, the high proportion of scattered light leads to an improvement in room illumination.
The TIMax® GL insulating inserts consist of very thin, spun glass fibres, which are provided with a light-stable binder and woven into a very light and translucent glass web. The trapped, stagnant air achieves very good thermal insulation. The glass fibres create perfect light diffusion and shadow-free room illumination. Direct sunlight and the associated glare are prevented. Due to the excellent glare protection of the light-diffusing insulating insert, TIMax® GL-PlusF is often used in sports hall glazing. Double-skinned profiled building glass is tested for ball impact resistance.
The standard double-skinned profiled glass structure consists of a lower aluminium U-frame and an upper aluminium U-frame, in which the profiled glass is set against each other. This results in a pane gap of approx. 56 mm, which is completely filled by the translucent TIMax® GL or TIMax® GL-PlusF insulating insert.
The TIMax® GL thermal insulation insert (7 cm thick) is used in a standard double-shell structure in glass facades with normal requirements for thermal insulation up to a Ug value of 1.4 W/m²K. TIMax GL is a cost-efficient thermal insulation for commercial halls, warehouses and stairwells.
The TIMax® GL-PlusF thermal insulation insert (10 cm thick) has a higher material weight and fibre density compared to the standard TIMax® GL variant and is more compressed between the glass panes. In the standard double-shell structure, thermal insulation of up to a Ug value of 1.2 W/m²K is achieved. A typical application is window facades for sports halls.
