Separation and sliding layers, applied as loosely laid tarpaulins or sheets, protect the roof waterproofing from tensile and shear forces. In the case of chemically incompatible materials (e.g. simple soft PVC membranes on bitumen), a neutral separation layer must be provided. In the case of inverted roofs, no foils (vapour-barrier!), but only vapour-permeable fleeces (e.g. TGV 21) may be used as a separating layer on the insulation boards in order to avoid condensation within the thermal insulation.
Root protection films, applied as loosely laid tarpaulins or as welded sheets, protect the roof waterproofing from penetrating plant roots. This is especially necessary for bituminous waterproofing. The WSB 100-PO root protection membrane, which can be welded with hot air, is advantageous for complicated roof surfaces with many projections, penetrations, etc. and for intensive greening. The WSF 40, large-format tarpaulins made of special PE, laid with an overlap of at least 1.5 m, are suitable for simple roof surfaces that are to be extensively greened. In general, when using root protection layers on existing waterproofing, attention must be paid to the material compatibility of the materials. The ZinCo root protection film WSF 40 and the root protection membrane WSB 100-PO are bitumen-compatible!

Installation Instructions
This installation instructions describe the essential steps of using this product. In addition, please observe the relevant standards and guidelines, in particular the provisions of occupational health and safety.
If there is a risk of storms, the installation should not take place.
1. Installation:
The WSF 40 root protection film is laid loosely with an overlap of approx. 1.5 m. The film is available in different dimensions, so that even large areas without overlaps are possible. The root protection film must be carried up to the upper edge of the waterproofing at roof edges, etc.
To protect against UV radiation and blowing away, the WSF 40 must be covered immediately after installation. This is usually done with the storage protection mat SSM 45.
2. Cutting:
The WSF 40 root protection film can be cut with a cutter knife (with a hard blade) or sturdy universal scissors. When cutting, care must be taken to ensure that the roof waterproofing is not damaged under any circumstances! If damage does occur, it must be reported and repaired immediately.
The root protection film must be cut out in a circle over roof drains, about 1 cm larger than the roof drain all around (cross cut is not enough!).
