Timber hybrid building system

Description

Timber hybrid construction system for versatile buildings made of prefabricated components.

More Over

System grid

The floor slabs of a CREE building consist of a grid of prefabricated wood-concrete composite elements. The dimensions of the building are therefore many times the ceiling element dimensions in each direction. There are three basic grids available; Deviations are possible in consultation with CREE. The width of the wood-concrete ribbed ceiling elements can vary between 2.50m, 2.70m and 3.00m, while the length of the ceiling elements is ideally two or three times the width.

Glulam columns

Double

columns made of glulam transmit vertical forces across the ground to the pair of columns below. It is possible to install several pairs of columns together with a façade element at the same time. This combination of primary and secondary construction steps accelerates construction progress by avoiding wet building materials and the associated curing times.

Hybrid ceiling elements

The hybrid ceiling elements made of wood and concrete provide the necessary fire protection between the floors and at the same time contain renewable materials. The large span of the ceiling elements (up to 10.00 m) allows great flexibility in the room layout. The attractive wooden surfaces can have either a ribbed or a flat soffit, but we do not recommend covering them.

Unless special stiffening elements are required, the façade elements of a CREE building are not integrated into the primary supporting structure, but are hung. This allows for variable furnishing of the façade surface according to local conditions and specific requirements, as well as individual design. The combined installation of the structural columns together with the curtain wall façade in a single work step ensures that the building under construction is quickly protected from the weather and enables the early start of the interior work. In addition, no scaffolding is required on the construction site.

Central beams

Many floor plans require an extension of the grid to create greater building depth. We achieve this by introducing central beams, which are ideally made of steel to minimize dimensions. Depending on the choice of material, the beams allow column spacing of up to three grid lines. If desired, concrete and wood can be used instead of steel, provided that larger beam dimensions are acceptable.
