For better controllability of the air exchange, four different ventilation levels are defined in DIN 1946-6:
- Nominal ventilation: Nominal ventilation
- describes "normal operation", which not only ensures that hygienic requirements are met, but also ensures building protection in the absence of the user.
- Reduced ventilation: if
- users are temporarily absent, there are fewer moisture loads in the building and reduced ventilation is more sufficient to meet the minimum hygienic requirements and ensure moisture protection.
- Intensive ventilation:
- this ventilation describes the highest ventilation level, it serves to reduce load peaks for a limited period of time and has an increased air volume flow.
- Ventilation for moisture protection:
- Ventilation level for usual conditions of use to ensure building protection (moisture protection) in the event of partially reduced moisture loads, for example if users are temporarily absent or no laundry is dried inside the apartment.
