Cellulose insulation board

Cellulose insulation boards are organic fibre insulation materials and are made from recycled paper. The shredded paper flakes are pressed into mats with steam, whereby support fibres are partly incorporated to improve dimensional stability. Cellulose insulation boards get their insulating effect from the air pockets between the fibres. To improve fire behaviour and against mould infestation, boron salts and ammonium phosphate are usually added. Cellulose has a moisture-regulating effect to a certain extent, is permeable to diffusion and resistant to pest and mould infestation.

Due to the high specific heat capacity and the high bulk density, the panels achieve good thermal insulation in summer and very good sound insulation properties. The panels are made exclusively from recycled material. They are not compostable. During processing, it should be noted that cutting the panels leads to a lot of dust. Cellulose insulation boards are relatively new to the market and are not yet widely used. They are available as dimensionally stable, elastic insulation boards in thicknesses of 30 - 180 mm.
