Cold roof, definition

Cold roofs are double-skinned rear-ventilated roof structures. The rear ventilation level under the roof cladding is primarily used to dry the moisture diffusing through the roof layers and thus prevents condensation in the roof structure. Cold roofs are more complex to manufacture and have a higher roof structure, but are safe against condensation damage. They can also reduce the summer heat input through rear ventilation.
