Passenger elevators for normal use in non-residential buildings

According to the model building code, all buildings with a height of 13 m or more (height = top floor above the ground surface in the average) must have an elevator that stops on all floors. For non-residential buildings, the need for a passenger elevator may also arise in lower buildings, e.g. if this is required for publicly accessible buildings by the state building code in conjunction with DIN 18040-1. This can also apply to individual units of use in a larger building, e.g. a doctor's practice on the upper floor of a residential building.

All minimum dimensions for passenger lifts in non-residential buildings are regulated in DIN 15309. Elevators for normal use are elevators in hotels, office buildings and similar buildings with a maximum of 15 floors.
