Properties
Reed panels are noise and sound insulating due to the air-filled cavities and have λ values of approx. 0.061 W/mK. Reeds are permeable to diffusion (μ = 1–2), very hard, hardly rot and are relatively resistant to moisture. It has a very high silica content and therefore has certain fire protection properties even without chemical additives and binders. Reed mats have a high degree of stability, but are still malleable and can be used, for example, for vaulted ceiling design. The density of reed slabs is 140 kg/m³.

Reed delivery forms
are supplied as chopped reed granules (usually in composite panels), panels, rolls and in the form of insulating mats up to 10 cm thick.
Reed panels are suitable as plaster substrates with a heat-insulating effect indoors and outdoors, for wall and ceiling constructions and for cladding masonry. They can also be used as an insulating material under screed. Clay plaster is preferably applied to reed products. There are special insulation mats in combination with plaster and wall heating.
