Plasterboard / Gypsum board

Expansion board made of gypsum, which is laminated on both sides with cardboard and was formerly called plasterboard. The cardboard cover gives the board sufficient stability. It is able to absorb the tensile forces acting on the plate. Plasterboards are regulated in DIN EN 520 and are marked with GK. They are used in drywall construction for planking non-load-bearing interior walls, suspended ceilings, facing shells and generally for interior cladding, as well as for the production of precast screeds. Specialized products are offered for use in fire walls or in the sanitary area. [...]

Planking with gypsum boards and gypsum fibreboards

For

planking drywall constructions, gypsum fibre boards (designation GF) and gypsum boards (designation GK) are available. While gypsum fibreboards are generally equally suitable for the areas of fire protection (as they are non-combustible) and suitable for damp rooms (due to factory impregnation), the market offers numerous specialisations for various areas of application in the field of gypsum boards.

Until 2005, the classification and designation of the individual gypsum boards was carried out according to DIN 18180, and from September 2005 also according to DIN EN 520. DIN EN 520 introduced uniform European designations and markings, some of which were classified according to different criteria than DIN 18180.

The following table compares the types of boards of DIN 18180 with those of DIN EN 520, which largely correspond to each other:

There are gypsum boards and gypsum fibreboards in a thickness of approx. 6.5 – 25 mm. A board thickness of 12.5 mm is common, or more in the case of increased requirements - e.g . for fire protection. Depending on the system and requirements, the planking is carried out in 1-3 layers.
