Cross-laminated timber (CLT) is also referred to as thickwood, cross-laminated timber, CLT or X-lam. Cross-laminated timber elements consist of 3 to 7 solid wood layers that are glued together crosswise. This neutralises the stresses that occur as a result of swelling and shrinkage of the wood, creating a deformation-free element. These can be used as roof, ceiling and wall components. The elements are prefabricated at the factory, delivered to the construction site in entire wall sections and connected to each other. The inner side of the wall can be clad or left as a visible wooden surface, depending on your preference. A wide variety of cladding can be applied on the outside to meet the thermal insulation and design ideas.
