Needlepunch flooring

Needlepunch floor coverings are not made of continuous yarn, but of usually synthetic fibre sections, e.g. polyamide or polypropylene, the individual fibres in a tangled position are felted together by needling. The comfort value when walking on it is rather low compared to other resilient floor coverings. The strengths of needlepunch floor coverings lie in their extreme robustness and inexpensive material costs. According to DIN EN 1307, a distinction is made between the following types of needlepunched nonwoven flooring:

  • Type A1: product of a visible homogeneous layer, without a separate backing
  • Type A2: more than one visible layer, truss does not reach the upper wear layer
  • Type A3: more than one visible layer, binder present

in the entire covering thicknessFor needlepunch floor coverings that are to be used for events for a limited period of time, deviating (reduced) minimum requirements according to DIN EN 15772 apply.
