Brick prefabricated slabs, also known as steel block slabs, are prefabricated slabs manufactured in the factory that are delivered to the construction site in large-scale elements, usually spanning rooms in widths of up to approx. 2.5 m.

The elements consist of concrete beams with built-in steel bar reinforcement and intervening rows of ceiling tiles. Bricks and beams are firmly encapsulated together within one element. The elements are lifted into the final position by means of a lifting crane. Assembly support is usually not necessary. The individual elements are then cast under each other and usually also with circumferential ring anchors or beams. The reinforcing steel protruding from the girder ends is used to bond with ring anchors and beams. The ceiling is immediately loadable. The special shape of the ceiling tiles in accordance with DIN 4159 achieves a uniform ceiling soffit made of bricks. The ceiling tiles contribute to the overall statics of the ceiling, as their upper chord is able to absorb additional loads. Transverse reinforcement is usually only necessary for payloads >5 kN/m2 .
