Lime plasters have a very good water vapor permeability. Since they are also highly alkaline (pH value >11), they offer reliable natural protection against mould and bacteria. Pure lime plaster has been used for many centuries. Lime plasters often serve as the first layer (concealer) for a decorative pasty top plaster in interiors.
